Baviaanskloof East Conservancy Development
cambria-from-the-airIn 2005 & 2006 the Landmark Foundation led a project detailing the feasibility of the land-use conversion from intensive citrus farming to a biodiversity-based tourism economy in the Cambria area of the Baviaanskloof. This project was part-funded by the Critical Ecosystem partnership Fund of Conservation International in Washington.

The project did a full status quo analysis of the biological environment, the rehabilitation analysis, tourism assessment and master plan, the land value assessment and commenced the resort development planning. Regrettably one of the landowner partners withdrew from the project and the analysis could not be completed. With further resources it may yet be developed further.
